Gus Bird Born and raised in Canton, PA, he now lives in South Williamsport where he and his wife Charis are raising their five children. Gus is a veteran, serving in the PA Army National Guard for over 16 years as a chaplain, with two overseas tours to Afghanistan and Kuwait. He also earned his Bachelors at Penn College and Master of Divinity from Evangelical Seminary.

Charis was born in Minnesota. Being a child of parents who traveled the U.S. rebuilding struggling churches, she has lived in many parts of the country. Her father took a permanent position at a church in Lock Haven, PA when she was ten. There she went to a local Christian school. After graduation, she studied at Moody Bible Institute, Majoring in Biblical Studies. She now spends her time loving her five children and any foster child that God brings to their home.

Gus and Charis have a heart for serving the marginalized in our community. They believe the “Widows and orphans” (James 1:27) of today are single mothers and foster children. They pursue these groups of people to show them the love and security that can only come from Christ.
